Mysterious 'Mummy' claims letter left at cafe

A mother who left behind a mysterious envelope at a cafe, that appeared to contain an important letter, has now come forward.

Gold Coast cafe Dawn 2 Dusk wrote on social media the mother left the envelope at a table last weekend.

It had the words, “to be opened only after my passing”, written on the front.

Underneath the words was a picture of a love heart and a sign off from “mummy”.

The cafe’s manager, Sharna Williams, told the Gold Coast Bulletin they were upset for the person the letter was meant for.

“Obviously it is important so we have been looking after it, when no one called we decided to go to the public,” she said.

“We are a little upset for the person it was meant for, we just need to get it back to the children of the letter writer, whomever they are.”

The mysterious mummy has now come forward after the cafe’s appeal to the public on social media on the weekend.

This morning the cafe wrote on its Facebook page to inform diners the letter had been returned.

“Great news we have reunited the letter with its owner,” the cafe wrote.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped.

“Mummy would like to remain anonymous but is overwhelmed by the support from us all.”

The cafe said the envelope was written to her children but the woman is in good health.
