Slain mother Shanann Watts was supposed to be hosting her gender reveal party today, just days after the pregnant woman and her two girls were found dead.
The 34-year-old returned to Colorado from a work trip early Monday and shared on social media her excitement for the busy weekend ahead, including a gender reveal party planned for her third child.
A family friend reported Mrs Watts and her daughters missing on Monday, police said.
Police allege Mrs Watts’s husband Chris murdered her and their girls Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. He was arrested on Wednesday night.
The deaths have left family and friends searching for answers.
A close friend Ashley Bell said the gender reveal party was supposed to be held at the Watts’ family home on Saturday.
“They were always so happy. They were always so — I’m completely lost for words,” she told Fox 31 Denver.
Nobody aside from some family members knew the baby’s sex, however one family member has since revealed on Facebook that Mrs Watts was expecting a baby boy.

Police said the mother was found dead on a Frederick property, north of Denver, owned by Anadarko Petroleum – one of the state’s largest oil and gas drillers, where Christopher Watts, 33, worked.
Investigators found what they believe are the bodies of the two girls nearby on Thursday.
