Mum's horror after finding naked stranger inside home
A Gold Coast mother has revealed her young family’s horror after she allegedly found a stranger naked inside their home.
The suspect was bitten by a police dog when officers tracked him down after he was allegedly discovered in the bathroom of the woman’s Southport home.
The mother was home with her six-year-old son at their Scarborough Street unit on Friday afternoon, unknowing there was an intruder just metres away.
“We don’t know how did he that. It was very quick,” the mother told 7News.
“I just washed my hands and I saw him. I was scared because he was naked.
“We ran outside the house and we called the police.”
Officers arrived within minutes but the bare burglar had allegedly fled over a fence, making his way through neighbouring backyards.
Police eventually managed to corner the man in an apartment block outhouse a street away.
“They’ve broken the door off the toilet when they’ve come to get him,” a resident said.
The unclothed and uncooperative accused was bitten on the arm by a police dog as he was taken into custody.
“You could hear yelling and screaming and dogs and stuff, it was pretty hectic,” one witness said.
He was taken to hospital for surgery under police guard.
The man has since been charged with several offences including obstructing police, enter dwelling with intent, possession of dangerous drugs and indecent act with intent to insult and offend.
He will appear at Southport District Court on Monday.
