Mum's heartbreaking post before she was fatally shot in the stomach

A mother who died after being shot in the stomach posted a heartbreaking Facebook message just months before her death.

Emily Miller, 31, was allegedly shot at a home in Whittington, Geelong, about 9.20pm on Wednesday night. She was rushed to hospital but later died.

In July, Ms Miller posted a picture on Facebook with a message urging people not to take life for granted.

“In the blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You may never know when you may not have that chance again,” it said.

Friends were shocked by the tragedy and paid tribute to the “beautiful mother”.

“To wake up today and to hear that someone so close to my heart and my family has been shot dead breaks my heart,” friend Shaun-Teal Rose Lawson said in a Facebook post.

“I can’t believe you have been taken so soon and your life cut so short. You were such a beautiful mother and soul I can’t believe this, I really can’t.

“My heart goes out to her mother, friends and family.

“My heart goes out to your four beautiful children who adored you more than life itself.”

Friend Simone Trench also paid tribute to Ms Miller through a Facebook post.

“I can’t believe that you’re truly gone … Fly high Em thinking of you always,” she said.

A man in his 20s was being questioned over the incident but nobody has yet been charged.
