Mum's chilling last words to kids before crashing into tree

A mum is accused of trying to kill her four children by crashing a minivan into a palm tree.

Calicia Williams, 36, of Ocala in the US state of Florida, was arrested Wednesday and charged with four counts of attempted murder.

A police report says investigators determined the vehicle was steered directly onto a median and at the tree.

It’s alleged Williams told police her husband caused the crash by putting a hex on her.

One of the children later told police Williams told them to remove their restraints just before crashing, saying, “The devil can’t hurt you. He only hurts bad people.”

Corie Byrd, of the Ocala Police Department, told WKMG: “She made some utterances about a hex from her husband and that’s what made her crash, but we really don’t know the way at this point.”

An attending officer told Fox News the mum was “rambling on about spells and voodoo”.

Williams and the children, aged 7 to 13, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Byrd told WKMG the children were “very, very lucky to be alive”.

“It makes you want to hold your kids tight, and it’s unfathomable why a mother would want to do this,” Byrd said.

Williams will be booked into jail after treatment.
