A popular Australian mummy blogger has taken to Snapchat to livestream the labour and eventual birth of her second child.
Sophie Cachia, aka The Young Mummy, kept her fans up to date from the very moment she first went into labour and for the remaining 20 hours, until she finally gave birth just before midnight.
The 26-year-old mother of two went into labour early on Saturday and following the birth posted a picture of her partner holding the newborn.
“Introducing B2. Mum and Bub all ok. Has been a long day- will see you all tomorrow xxx.”
As part of one of her first video posts about the progressing labour she can be seen in one of the snaps saying, “So according to the hospital I am in labour everybody... woo!”
Sophie was able to film and update her followers every three to four minutes in between contractions, however, she even filmed a few contractions along the way.
By the mid-afternoon, however, the pain of the contractions had worsened and Sophie can be seen in the footage breathing heavily and letting out the occasional scream of pain.
By late afternoon Sophie was admitted to hospital and was eventually having her contractions assisted by a nurse.
“12 hours later and my epidural has kicked in. Praise the lord. Shutting up shop, no more kids ever again. Seriously,” the mother posted to Snapchat.
Earlier in her pregnancy the mother posted onto her social media accounts that she intended to post photos and videos of her labour live on social media.
The Melbourne based blogger has more than 170,000 followers on Instagram.
“I've spent days, weeks, months and years TRYING to describe certain things to family, friends and followers about the beautiful/hideous process that labour is,” Sophie wrote explaining why she decided to post the process onto social media.
“So I want to go further and document it live in video format for the world to see and share in the beautiful moment that birth is.”
