Mum's unique punishment for sons who were rude to bus driver

A mum has made her boys walk 7km to school carrying a sign as punishment for their bad behaviour on a bus.

The mum, from Ontario, Canada, who has not been named, posted photos of her two primary school aged boys on Facebook carrying a cardboard sign, CBC News reports.

In the post, the mum wrote she was left with little choice but to come up with a unique punishment for the pair after getting a call from their school about their misbehaviour on the bus.

"My boys have been bad for their bus driver and I got a call from the school yesterday that drew the line for me!" she wrote.

"This morning we did a 7 km walk to show them what every day will be like for them when they get kicked off the bus! Two hours later they made it."

The pair were seen carrying a cardboard sign with the message: "Being bad and rude to our bus driver! Mum's making us walk".

The mum's post has been shared more than 30,000 times. Many have commended her for taking a hard stance on the behaviour of her two sons but Tina Gatt, a manager of community outreach for the Windsor-Essex Child's Aid Society, said "as adults, we should be concerned about shaming children".

Ms Gatt added putting signs on children and trying to shame them on social media was not beneficial and would "not motivate children to be better".

The mum said she had been in touch with the CAS to explain the punishment.
