A NSW mother has died in hospital more than a week after she was allegedly stabbed by teenagers while trying to break up a fight.

Kristie McBride, 39, was found with stab wounds to her torso near Wegit Way in Warrawong on November 22 following reports of a brawl.

The mother-of-two was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but died on Friday – 10 days after the alleged attack.

In social media posts, loved ones of Ms McBride expressed shock at her death, saying she was taken before her time.

“Such a beautiful soul she was taken early for just trying to help the young ones,” one person wrote.

Another said; “I will always cherish the memories we shared … I’m glad we got to chat the last time I seen you, only a few weeks ago”.

“Rest in peace my friend.”

Three teenage girls aged 13, 14, and 15 were arrested nearby a short time later and charged with offences including affray.

Another teenager, a 15-year-old girl, was arrested the following day and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and affray.

A week later, NSW Police revealed a woman, 37, and two 17-year-old girls had also been charged with affray after handing themselves into police on November 29.

In a heartbreaking messaged shared on GoFundMe, Ms McBride’s niece, Shalee Dach, said she was allegedly left fighting for her life after “trying to protect her family”.

“My Aunty was unfortunately attacked by a group of teenagers on Wednesday night and (allegedly) severely stabbed,’ Ms Dach said.

“She has a heart of pure kindness and nothing but love and good intentions in all situations. Kristie would drop anything at any time to help people around her even those that she may have never met.”
