'Kids walk there barefoot': Mum’s 'unbelievable' find on popular beach

A mum has made a “disgusting” find on a northern NSW beach.

She shared a picture of the needle on Facebook and said she found it near the beach not far from Kingscliff Bowls Club south of Tweed Heads on Thursday.

“Found this on the beach in the sand,” she wrote.

“Was sitting in the sand so you would stand on the needle.

“There are some very sick people out there.”

Other people were also appalled by the find.

“That makes my blood boil,” one woman wrote.

“My kids and I are down there all the time barefoot. What is wrong with people?”

Another woman called the find “unbelievable”.

However, one woman suggested it may not have been deliberately placed on the beach.

“The lid itself is from a sharps container,” she wrote.

“Looks like at some stage it was disposed of correctly. Just the container itself may have wound up in the ocean.”

Several people encouraged the woman to report the find to police.

A spokesman for the Tweed-Byron Police district said they were not aware of the matter and a NSW Police spokesman said it was a matter for council.

Yahoo News Australia has contacted Tweed Shire Council for comment.
