Motorbike rider fighting for life

A man has been flown to hospital after he was seriously injured in a motorbike incident on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency crews were called to Palmview after a man in his 50s lost control of the motorcycle he was riding along to the Bruce Highway about 10.37am on Tuesday.

It’s understood the man was riding and towing a trailer, when he lost control while travelling southbound along the busy highway.

The motorbike and trailer then reportedly jackknifed and the man was thrown from the bike.

He was treated for multiple serious traumatic injuries, including to his chest, arms and leg.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called and landed on a stretch of highway shortly after 11am.

Queensland Police Service officers had closed all southbound lanes during the incident.

The man was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.

Drivers are urged to expect delays.
