Moment thief steals car from woman dropping clothes at charity bin

A woman has been treated for shock after her car was stolen while she was dropping off clothes at a charity bin on the Gold Coast.

Around 4.40pm on Wednesday , a 53-year-old woman left her car running while she was donating clothes to a charity-bin at Allied Drive, when a man jumped into the driver’s seat.

Police have now released CCTV in a bid to track down the attacker.

The man can be seen moving down the footpath as the woman rummages through the boot of her car. He then rushes to the driver’s door, and appears to knock her to the ground.

A second car stops and attempted to block the driver, however he accelerates away from the scene.

The woman did not receive any physical injuries as a result of the incident, but was treated for shock at the scene.

The stolen 2013 white Mercedes Benz A250 Hatch was located around 2.40pm Thursday, abandoned at Blyth Street, Arundel.

The man is described as Pacific Islander in appearance with a proportionate build.

He was wearing a dark blue jacket, blue denim jean, a dark coloured baseball cap and blue backpack at the time if the incident.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident, or the identity or whereabouts of the man, to contact them.
