Moment man allegedly run down by car
A man’s been charged over an alleged hit-and-run incident captured in wild CCTV vision.
It happened about 7pm on December 21 in the inner-eastern Perth suburb of Carlisle when the alleged victim, a 45-year-old man, was allegedly verbally abused by the driver of a white Toyota HiLux.
Police say he escaped by jumping a fence onto Harris St, but the HiLux appeared soon after.
Vision, released by WA Police, shows the vehicle accelerate and swerve at the man, hitting him with the vehicle’s bullbar and continuing into the wall of a nearby unit.
The HiLux reverses and drives away, while the victim takes shelter inside a unit.
He was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
A 31-year-old Lower Chittering man was arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempt to unlawfully kill, driver failed to stop and render assistance and failing to stop after property damage.
He’s next due in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on October 25.
