Distressing moment boy, 5, hit by car while crossing road

WARNING - DISTRESSING CONTENT: Heart-stopping CCTV footage has revealed the moment a young boy was mowed down by a car after running onto a busy road in Adelaide’s south.

The video, obtained by 7News, shows the five-year-old dash across a busy Marion Road in Mitchell Park on Sunday afternoon in search of his family after running ahead of them.

Narrowly avoiding a 4WD heading southbound, the child is then cleaned up just metres from the footpath by a black BMW wagon travelling north.

The boy is sent tumbling to the ground as the shocked driver slams on the brakes and rushes to the boy’s aid who writhes on the floor.

Remarkably the boy sustained only minor injuries from the incident, a South Australia Police spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia.

He was taken to Flinders Medical Centre for treatment for an injured ankle and lost toenail.
