A Victorian man who went missing after a kayaking trip has been found dead, police say.
The 73-year-old's kayak was found on Birdwalk Beach at Mt Martha on Friday afternoon.
Searchers scoured nearby scrubland for John O'Brien with the air wing and coast guard also involved, police said.
"The body of a man, believed to be missing Mornington man John O'Brien, was located by Mornington Volunteer Marine Rescue searching in the Mt Martha area around 7pm," a Victoria Police spokesman said in a statement on Friday night.
Mr O'Brien left Fishermans Beach on the Mornington Peninsula to go fishing in his kayak but failed to turn up to work on Friday afternoon.
Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
