Men struck by capsized boat propeller
Two men have been left seriously injured after a rogue wave forced their boat to overturn off the coast.
NSW Ambulance were called to Point Plomer, at the northern end of North Shore Beach near Port Macquarie, after reports two men had been thrown into the water about 2.30pm on Wednesday.
The boat the two men, both aged in their 50s, had been in was overturned by a rogue wave about 2km offshore.
As both men tried to swim to shore, they were each run over by their unmanned vessel while in the water.
Paramedics treated both men for serious leg and abdominal injuries they sustained after being struck by the boat’s propeller.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter critical care medical team further treated and stabilised both men, before they were flown to John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle.
