Fans of McDonald's might be thinking twice about eating the fries after seeing a video showing an employee at a location in Australia trying to dry a mop using the heat lamp above the fan-favorite menu item.
Back in April, a customer was waiting for her food at a shop in Booval, Queensland, when she noticed the employee trying their unique way to dry the mop, sharing the clip online a few weeks later. In the clip, the employee held the mop head across her hands, placing it right under the french fry heating lamp and waiting.

"I was just standing waiting for my order when I looked over and heard a staff member say, 'I don’t think you should be doing that as it could be a safety issue as it can catch on fire,'" the customer who filmed the clip recalled to Yahoo.
She went on, "I would say [for] at least a minute they were getting fries for orders around her. I was totally shocked at what I witnessed and she just laughed it off."
People around the world quickly shared their thoughts on the incident online and they didn't hold back.
"That’s McNasty," read one top-liked comment on an Instagram post about the situation from People, while another person joked, "Can I get a double McMop with medium fries?"
"That’s going to make you McSick," chimed in a third.
A different fan quipped, "I always knew McDonald’s fries had a secret ingredient. 😂."
A spokesperson from McDonald's Australia called the event an “isolated incident” in a statement to Yahoo, adding, “We have addressed this with the restaurant directly and conducted thorough re-training for all employees on McDonald’s sanitisation, hygiene and food safety procedures."
They went on, “McDonald’s takes food safety extremely seriously and follows strict cleaning, sanitisation and hygiene procedures in all restaurants."
This isn't the only thing that McDonald's is getting criticized about, as the fast food chain has been called out recently for pricing changes and more.
