Woman's revolting find in her Coles Caesar salad

A woman claims she made a revolting discovery in her Coles Caesar Salad Bowl after getting home from the supermarket.

Simone Solodchuck-Boston wrote on Facebook on Monday that she purchased two pre-made salads from Coles and made the unwelcome find while chowing down.

“After enjoying most of one I noticed something strange hanging off my fork - turns out it was a slug,” she wrote.

Worryingly, she thinks she may have realised a bit too late.

“The slug had been squashed and inadvertently been mixed through the salad so not sure how much I may have eaten,” she wrote to Coles on the company’s Facebook page.

She added she wanted to provide people with a “heads up” to thoroughly check the same salads before eating them.

“I will never eat one of these again,” she wrote.

In a response to the post, Coles wrote it was “disappointed to see this”.

“We're sorry for the poor experience,” a Coles spokesperson wrote.

Coles asked for barcodes and other identifying features which might help identify the batch.

In a statement to Yahoo News Australia, Coles said the customer has been contacted and the supermarket has followed up with the supplier to investigate the matter.

“Coles takes the quality of all our products seriously,” the statement said.

“As always we encourage customers to return any item they’re not 100% happy with to their nearest store for a full refund or replacement.”
