Horror as man dies after getting stuck in water park pipe

A man has died after police said he broke into a water park and became stuck in a pipe.

Emergency crews attended Eldorado Aquatic Park in Scottsdale, in the US state of Arizona, on Monday to remove the body of a 32-year-old man, ABC 15 reports.

Sergeant Kevin Watts told local news site AZ Central a police officer was patrolling the area about 12.30am (local time) when he heard muffled cries for help.

It took the officer until 2am to determine the cries were coming from a man trapped in a pipe that supports one of the park’s waterslides.

After police found the man, it took hours for him to be rescued as officials had to take the waterslide apart.

By time they reached him five hours later, about 7am (local time), the man was dead.

Police allege the man climbed over the park’s fence and onto the slide, but it is unclear how he became trapped inside the pipe. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

The pool remained closed on Monday.
