Man stabbed to death in suburban park
A manhunt is under way after a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death in a suburban park near a sporting ground in the middle of the night.
Emergency services where called to a park on Mortimer Road at Acacia Ridge in southern Brisbane around 12.10am where they found a man with a stab wound to the chest.
He died at the scene.
Queensland Police say initial investigations indicate the man was known to the offender, who fled the scene.
Detective Inspector Craig McDonald said the men were part of a large group who had gathered at the park overnight.
“It appears an altercation has taken place and a person has been stabbed,” he told reporters.
“We have a number of people assisting detectives.“ It appears at this early stage it would appear the attacker is known to the victim, there is most definitely no ongoing threat to the public.”
Detectives are interviewing several people who were also in the park during the incident.
Police have appealed for anyone with further information or relevant vision of the area around that time to contact police.
