Man killed in drive-by shooting

A man has been killed in an early morning drive-by shooting in Melbourne.

The incident occurred in the city’s southeast about 12.30am Saturday.

A 30-year-old Cranbourne man was found with a gunshot wound and died at the scene.

He was found in a vehicle on Bride Ave in Hampton Park shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Police have been told a Ford Ranger was seen driving away from the area, which is now under investigation.

In a statement on Saturday police said “a burnt out vehicle was located at Sweeney Reserve in Berwick just after 2.30am and police are yet to determine if it is linked to the investigation”.

Detectives remain on scene Saturday.

A completely burnt out utility vehicle can be seen at the Sweeney Reserve carpark.

Police forensics in blue overalls were seen paying close attention to a silver Volkswagen Golf GTI.
