Man jumps from moving train and faceplants on platform

A man in the US has learned the hard way that it is never a good idea to jump out of a moving train.

The Chicago man was left battered and bruised after he made the seemingly poor decision to jump out of a moving train as it pulled into a station.

Video uploaded to Instagram by user Queshabaybae, shows the unknown man prying open the train doors and leaping out of the train carriage and onto the subway platform.

"Hey!" a bystander yells just as he makes his leap of faith.

As soon as the man’s foot touches down on the platform, he falls onto his side and hits his head on the ground.

It is unknown why the man felt the need to jump from the train or if he suffered any serious injuries.

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) told the Chicagoist that it appeared that a passenger had pulled the emergency door handle on the train.

“Use of this door-pull in a non-emergency situation is not only illegal but it is dangerous to both the person involved and other passengers,” they said in a statement.

The spokesperson noted that a train would immediately slow to a stop if the emergency door handle was pulled. The CTA is investigating the incident.

This is far from the first time a person has risked their safety while riding the rails.
