Man who 'flew to New York from London without ticket or passport' is arrested again
A man who allegedly flew from London to New York without a ticket or passport has been arrested again.
Craig Sturt, 46, was taken into custody in Richmond, south-west London, at around 8am on suspicion of failing to appear at court on Monday.
The Met Police said Sturt failed to appear for a hearing at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on January 22. After his arrest, he remains in custody at a police station in London.
He was first arrested at around 8pm on Christmas Day after arriving back in London on a flight from New York.
Scotland Yard said the man, from Slough, Berkshire, was charged with obtaining services by deception, being unlawfully airside and boarding an aircraft without permission.
According to The Sun, Sturt passed through security checkpoints and passport control without showing any documents at Heathrow Airport before boarding the British Airways flight on 23 December.
He was stopped on arrival at JFK airport and sent back to the UK, where he was arrested and charged with fraud and offences under the Aviation Security Act.
Court records show he admitted the offences at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court.
British Airways said in a statement: "We are assisting the authorities with their investigation."
A Heathrow Airport spokesman also said: "All people who go airside are subject to security screening, including the individual involved in this case.
"We are supporting the authorities with their ongoing investigation."
