Man dies after bike crash with kangaroo
A motorcyclist has died after crashing into a kangaroo on a dusty road in remote South Australia.
The 85-year-old man collided with the kangaroo on Stock Route Road near Eba, about 160km northeast of Adelaide, on Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 8.50am.
The man, from the nearby town of Morgan, died at the scene.
Major Crash investigators attended the scene and closed Stock Route Rd to traffic for several hours.
The road has now reopened.
The man’s passing marks the 105th life lost on South Australian roads this year, compared to 65 at the same time last year.
He is the 21st motorcyclist to lose his life in 2023.
Year-to-date, 2023 is the worst year for road deaths in South Australia since 2010, though some earlier years have recorded higher total annual figures.
