After an extensive investigation by the Forensic Crash Unit, police have charged a 70-year-old man for one count of careless driving causing death.

He is expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 26.

At the time of the incident, District Duty Officer Senior-Sergeant Steve Watterson described the scene as “horrendous”.

“The bus has made a left turn from Ann into Edward and for reasons under investigation at this point in time to ascertain why it deviated left onto the footpath,” he said.

“All other passengers on the bus were assessed by QAS with three transported to hospital with very minor injuries.”

Tragically stolen

Ms Cameron was known as a bright and kind young woman with her “whole life ahead of her”, with family members expressing that she had been “stolen from us”.

“She was only 18 and had her whole life ahead of her,” Ms Cameron’s aunt Karma Te Awhitu said.

“She was beautiful, outgoing and unique, really unique. She loved the beach, the Gold Coast, fashion and … was really close with all of her family.”
