A man has been charged with murder after Talip Guzel, 33, was shot dead near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London.

Jan Mercan, 22, was charged on Wednesday, a month after Mr Guzel was killed on White Hart Lane just after 11.30pm on Sunday July 30.

Mercan will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court later on Wednesday, Metropolitan Police said.

Officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were called to White Hart Lane, at the junction with Pretoria Road, following reports of a shooting.

Mr Guzel was found with gunshot wounds and despite best efforts of emergency services, he died a short time later.

Earlier this month DCI Dave Whellams said Mr Guzel’s family were left “devestated” by his death and “needed to know what happened”.

Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist crime team are investigating.
