Malawi vice president Saulos Chilima and nine others die in plane crash
Malawi's vice president and nine others have died in a plane crash, the country's president said.
The wreckage of the plane, that had been carrying 10 people, was found with no survivors. It had been flying in bad weather before going missing.
The flight - carrying seven passengers and three military crew members - "went off radar" after leaving the capital, Lilongwe, on Monday morning.
Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera announced the news in a live broadcast on Tuesday.
Mr Chilima had been arrested in 2022 after Malawi's corruption watchdog alleged he was rewarded for helping two companies get government contracts.
He denied any wrongdoing and last month the charges were dropped, with no reason given.
He was considered a potential candidate for next year's presidential election.
