M3GAN getting an erotic thriller spin-off about a sex robot

M3GAN has a sex robot spin-off in the works, titled SOULM8TE.

Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster, who worked on the 2022 horror box-office hit, announced the news this week, teasing a "thrilling and seductive" erotic thriller (via Deadline).

SOULM8TE will centre around a man and his android, which he acquires as a coping mechanism after the loss of his wife.

"In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless love 'bot into a deadly soulmate," added a description.

The film will be directed by You Are Not My Mother's Kate Dolan from a story by James Wan, Rafael Jordan, and Ingrid Bisu.

Commenting on the project, Dolan shared in a statement: "Fundamentally, I view this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I am looking forward to delving into those depths."

"SOULM8TE is a thrilling and seductive addition to the M3GAN universe," Wan said. "We're excited to partner with Kate to bring this story to life with her unique cinematic vision and point of view."

SOULM8TE is expected to arrive in cinemas in January 2026, six months after the sequel M3GAN 2.0.
