Woman's $1 million Lotto win just in time for Christmas
A NSW woman has become a millionaire overnight after winning one of three division one Lottery prizes just in time for Christmas.
The player from the Hunter Region learned of her $1 million win on Thursday after receiving a call from The Lott.
She said she was overwhelmed and admitted she needed time to let the news sink in.
However, the woman did say she would be celebrating the win over Christmas.
“I don’t really know how to feel, or what to say. Oh my god!” she said.
“I found out first thing this morning. I was quite amazed by it!”
The woman said she believed she would one day win a division one, but the reality of it all was “quite surreal”.
“I am just going to be sitting here thinking about the fact I’ve just become a millionaire,” she said.
“So, Christmas is going to be fantastic this year thanks to my win, but I think I will be very tired!”
She bought the ticket from Dungog Newsagency.
Manager Peter Maytom said he was happy the business sold the ticket just in time for Christmas.
“We last sold a division one winning entry in 2015, so that was a while ago,” he said.
“It’s so good winning so close to Christmas. What a great New Year she is going to have!
“We are incredibly happy for our winner and wish her all the best with her prize.”
The winning numbers for the draw were 16, 11, 21, 30, 15 and 19, while the supplementary numbers were 9 and 2.
The other two winners were from Victoria and South Australia.
