Lotto millionaire's fruitful shop
The WA winner of a $16.6 million Powerball prize has told how he went shopping for fruit immediately after finding out he was to become a millionaire.
The man claimed his prize from Lotterywest yesterday a week after he won the jackpot with a ticket bought from Padbury News and Post.
He claims he believed he was the winner after reading a story in a newspaper and went to check his ticket at a store.
“I just had a gut instinct that the $16.6 million was mine,” he said.
After being told about the win, he went shopping for apples and bananas and took a week to “chill out” before claiming the prize.
The single man celebrated with a few drinks of whiskey and plans to use the money to travel and help out friends.
He has told Lotterywest he hopes to continue working despite his win.
