House-proud lottery winner who scooped £1m has only bought a new vacuum cleaner
A Norwich City football fan who scooped £1 million on the lottery has made just one purchase since winning – a £500 Dyson vacuum cleaner.
Agricultural contractor Terry Falgate won the prize with a £2.50 Lucky Dip ticket in the EuroMillions draw last month but so far has not splashed the cash on anything other than on his new “unbelievable” Dyson.
His purchase replaces his old pull-along vacuum cleaner, which broke the week after he won the lottery.
Mr Falgate said: ”I'd had an argument with it.
"I went to empty it, the lid snapped, stuff went everywhere, and I thought, I can now go and buy a different hoover.
"It's all I've bought.”
The separated father of two said he "wouldn't have looked" at the top-of-the-range model before his win, adding: "They are unbelievable."
The 48-year-old revealed he had just watched his team lose to Watford on TV at his local pub when he looked on his phone and saw that he had won.
He bought a round of drinks for everyone in the Sutton Staithe before walking home to Stalham, Norfolk.

Mr Falgate plans to keep his Peugeot 308 and stay in his mortgaged three-bedroom semi, though he will search for "something with a little bit more of a garden for me and the dog" in the local area.
He said he will help his two daughters, who are both in their early 20s, with house deposits and will eventually reduce his hours at work – though he is continuing for now so as not to leave his employers "in the lurch”.
He said he does not regularly buy lottery tickets and decided to do so while walking his golden Labrador Harvey to the shops, where he was buying burger buns for dinner.
Mr Falgate's win "just makes life a little easier", he said, adding that he was "elated and shocked”.
"It was a normal Friday in the pub, having a few beers, watched Norwich lose again, checked the lottery ticket after the loss and found out we'd won," he said.
"It wasn't the best of games to be fair but it was all good in the end, for me anyway.”
He continued: "I'll admit, I'd had a few at that point so I had to get my mates to double-check on their phones that the numbers were right.”
Mr Falgate said he checked again the following morning, believing it could have been a dream.
"I hope I will still be me, it just makes sure that my children will have a better future," he said.
