Locals outraged by 'inappropriate' public toilets at Aussie park
A woman complained to council after visiting the park popular with sporting clubs and families on Friday.
A public toilet block at an Aussie park popular with sporting clubs and families has left some locals feeling uneasy. While the “inappropriate” see-through cubicle doors at the Allenby Gardens Reserve in Adelaide were installed some time ago, resident Felicity Graham first complained to council after visiting on Friday.
“These doors have apparently been here for years and no one has thought it was an issue,” she told 7News while visible behind one of the grated doors. “It scares me that there’s a playground behind us and knowing that there’s kids who are vulnerable.”
Other locals agree, with mum Brianna Warne telling the publication she often takes her children to the park but doesn’t “feel comfortable sending them to the toilet”. “It’s very strange, it’s very inappropriate,” she added.

Council to replace see-through toilet doors
In a statement to the publication, the City of Charles Sturt said it has installed temporary privacy screens on the toilet doors until they can be replaced.
“Charles Sturt recognises these doors do not provide adequate privacy and to ensure safety this long weekend, we are installing temporary screens today,” the council said.
“Our intent is to create safe public spaces and increase passive surveillance, however, these doors are not appropriate and will be fixed.”
