Little girl avoids 'trip to the dentist' after unusual find in Woolworths apple

A mother has been left in shock after she claims to have found an unusual object lodged inside of an apple.

She said she purchased the Fresh Food Kids mini apples five-pack from Woolworths for her daughter and found what she suspected to be a screw embedded one of the apples.

“I definitely don’t think this is some psycho trying to conceal stuff in kids’ fruit,” the mum wrote on the Woolworths Facebook page, along with three photos of her purchase and one very strange apple.

“Maybe some machinery malfunction?”

The customer went on to say she was “lucky” she spotted the metal object before her daughter took a bite “or [there] would be a trip to the dentist for my little girl”.

Wondering where the mystery object came from, the mother suggested the supermarket check out their equipment.

“You may have a machine with screws missing,” she wrote.

Woolworths responded to the mum’s Facebook post, saying they were investigating the incident.

“At Woolworths, we take food safety very seriously,” a spokesperson for the grocery giant told Yahoo News Australia.

While the spokesperson said they were still trying to get to the source of the strange object, they were “not aware of any further reports of a similar nature at this time”.
