Little boy's birthday wish is for dad to hand himself in to police

A little boy has pleaded for his father to hand himself into police as a gunman remains on the run.

Perth father Anthony Valentino, 41, has been in hiding for two days after a man was shot in the neck.

WA Police have warned the public not to approach the 41-year-old as he might be armed.

But his little boy, who hasn’t been named, just wants him home.

“I love you big much,” he said.

The little boy turns five on Saturday. He told Seven News the only thing he wants for his birthday is for his father to come home.

When asked how badly he wanted this he said, “very badly”.

Mr Valentino’s former partner said she also wants Mr Valentino to go to police.

“I’ve been told all of this stuff,” she said. “I don’t even know if he’s OK.”

His family said he’s a funny, generous man who loves cooking and adores kids.

“When it comes to his kids – he loves his kids and would do anything for his kids,” his former partner said.

The man who was shot needed surgery but is in a stable condition and was moved out of intensive care on Friday afternoon.

Mr Valentino is believed to be driving a silver Mitsubishi 380 with registration number 1CYK355.

Anyone with information regarding the silver Mitsubishi, or the whereabouts of Anthony Valentino, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the online reporting page.
