A-list star ‘secretly arrives in Melbourne’
Katy Perry has reportedly flown to Australia in secret for a private show.
Unveiled on Ben Fordham’s 2GB radio show, it was reported the international pop star had touched down in Melbourne to perform a private show for an audience including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
“It’s happening at Anthony Pratt’s home,” Mr Fordham said.
“She’ll be performing for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and other important people tomorrow night.
“Katy Perry has secretly flown into Australia and she will be performing at the Pratt mansion on Saturday night, Raheen.”
The decadent mansion, Raheen, is in Melbourne’s lavish and leafy suburb Kew where the Pratt family enjoys their extraordinary wealth.
Entertainment reporter Peter Ford speculated about why Perry could be at the event and suggested “you’re not going to get any change from $2m – or even $3m” for a private concert from Perry.
“I don’t know who would be putting the party on – it must be one of the kids, probably for the kids, maybe a 21st or something,” he said.
Anthony Pratt is the executive chairman of Visy Industries, the world’s largest privately owned packaging and paper company.
Perry has not been to Australia to tour since 2014, where she played her Prismatic World Tour.
She is now partnered with actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a child.
Australia is currently hosting Taylor Swift, Pink and Katy Perry all at once.
Perry also has a past with Taylor Swift, with the two allegedly embroiled in a feud back in 2015 after Perry apparently tried to hire Swift’s backup dancers for herself.
Between 2009 and 2014, the pair were publically friendly both in-person and on social media - with Perry even performing her hit Hot N Cold at one of Swift’s concerts.
After the alleged backup dancer unpleasantness, Swift later released her song Bad Blood about an anonymous broken down relationship.
Some of the lyrics include “bandaids don’t fix bulletholes” and “you say sorry just for show”.
She later told Rolling Stone the song “wasn’t even about a guy”.
“It had to do with business,” she said.
“She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour.
“She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.
“And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational—you would not believe how much I hate conflict.
“So, now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it.”
However Perry’s name was never mentioned in direct relation to Bad Blood, and the two stars have since made up after Perry featured in Swift’s music video to ‘You Need To Calm Down’.
