The bus driver who was behind the wheel when it mounted the footpath and fatally struck an 18-year-old woman in Brisbane’s CBD has asked to see the forensic crash report before his case proceeds.

Police allege that just after 5pm on March 8, a public bus travelling along Edward St lost control and mounted a footpath.

Tia Cameron, 18, was pinned against the Anzac Square Arcade building during the horrific incident.

She died from her injuries at the scene.

Lindsay Frances Selby, 70, fronted Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday for the first time since he was charged with one count of careless driving causing death following the fatal bus crash.

It will be alleged in court that Ms Cameron was walking out of a nearby salon and was on her way to meet relatives when she was struck and killed.

Mr Selby and four other passengers were taken to hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

Police prosecutor Jane McDonald told the court that it would take about eight weeks for the forensic crash report to be completed.

She said the body-worn footage of the police officer who was first on scene had already been disclosed.

The matter was adjourned to September 4 for further mention.

Once the short proceedings ended, Ms Cameron’s family and friends – who were in the court at the time – voiced their disappointment that the matter was being dragged out.

One supporter was heard saying “you killed our family” as they left the courtroom.

As the verbal confrontation escalated, magistrate Ross Mack told the group of supporters he had given them the “courtesy” of allowing them to stand in his courtroom but he wouldn’t tolerate their behaviour.

Mr Selby’s lawyer Claire McGee declined Mr Mack’s offer of having security escort Mr Selby from his courtroom.

Ms Cameron’s supporters wore T-shirts with the 18-year-old’s picture on them.

At the time of the CBD bus crash, Senior Sergeant Steve Watterson described the scene as “horrendous”.

“The bus has made a left turn from Ann into Edward and for reasons under investigation at this point in time to ascertain why it deviated left onto the footpath,” he said.
