Former foreign affairs minister Julie Bishop has debuted a new hairstyle while appearing on morning television.

Australia’s most fashion-forward politician joined the Today Show on Monday to provide commentary on the death of Russian lawyer Alexei Navalny.

However, the show’s hosts were briefly distracted as Ms Bishop took a seat on the lounge showing off a new platinum blonde bob cut.

“You look amazing. You do. The hair and everything,” host Karl Stefanovic said.

The former politician has long-been recognised for the short swooping blonde bob that stuck with her through two decades in parliament.

After leaving politics behind in 2019, she briefly switched up her look by growing out the bob into a sleek shoulder length cut.

She returned to the classic cut in late 2022, but has since decided to shake things up again.

After sharing her analysis on foreign affairs matters, Stefanovic turned viewer’s attention to Ms Bishop’s profile as an ambassador for fashion retailer David Jones.

“You’re one of the few people in the world who is able to navigate seamlessly between world politics and fashion,” he said.

“Well, I’m minister for fashion, I’m a friend of David Jones, and I’ve always loved shopping at David Jones,” Ms Bishop said.

“I’ve always loved Australian fashion, in particular, and as Foreign Minister had the opportunity as the first female foreign minister to promote Australian fashion.”

She even took a moment to share her expertise on the upcoming trends for the Autumn/ Winter season.

“This season we’re all about focusing on investment pieces,” she said.

“You’ll be fascinated to know Karlos, we’re talking about the forever trench or classic blazer.”

Stefanovic quipped that the last time he wore a trench coat he “nearly got arrested” before Ms Bishop jumped in with a cheeky sledge.

“Do you think it’s the decade for Karl to get another suit? Because I know it is, he’s worn the same one for two decades.”

The hosts erupted in laughter before Stefanovic graciously accepted the offer of a personal shopping day.
