Creed III's Jonathan Majors teases Kang taking on The Avengers: 'It's a huge opportunity for an actor'
Kang is set to be the next Thanos-level threat to take on Earth's mightiest heroes

Jonathan Majors has fought Ant-Man in the Quantum Realm and sparred verbally with Loki. Next, the actor will box Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed in Creed III.
And beyond that, Majors – who plays Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – will wage war on The Avengers in the upcoming ensemble picture Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. It’s a challenge he is very much looking forward to.
“There's so many of them,” he tells Yahoo UK when asked about what excites him about taking on cinema’s favourite superhero team.

“When you're an adversary, you are going up against the popular thing, be that Adonis, be that Loki, be that the Avengers. You're tasked with a job to oppose them all properly. It’s a bit of a love language to understand how to make [an] impact.”
Majors uses a military comparison to explain his point: “If you have a navy fighting the Air Force, there’s no combat. [You need] navy against navy. When you’re playing an antagonist, you need to be able to adapt to whoever it is you’re coming across.”

“[The Avengers] is a huge opportunity for an actor,” he continues. “It's a lot of fun. Where you have one choice, or one set of choices, when dealing with an Ant-Man or a Loki or Creed, with the potential of the Avengers picture, depending on how many of them there are, I get to adapt to potentially each and every one of them, which is a lot of fun. It’s a lot of work, but a lot of fun.”
When Yahoo jokes that maybe Majors will hopefully win this battle, he responds with a laugh: “They don't like to let me win, apparently. I'm actually [zero] for three!”
Despite being one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors, Majors — who was previously nominated for an Emmy for his work on Lovecraft Country — continues to balance taking on blockbusters and independent projects, including the upcoming Sundance sensation Magazine Dream, about an aspiring bodybuilder.

“Everyone else sees it as a balancing act; I see that as a job,” he says of doing both larger scale and smaller movies. “It's what I love doing. The preparation isn’t different. The objective is not different for me as an artist. So hopefully, we get to a place where I just get to work and there is no label of, ‘Oh, he does independent films,’ or. ‘No, he does [this].”
“That's an artist, when you can oscillate. I don't judge it. And so hopefully over time it becomes the norm. You can get pigeonholed as a movie star, and is that a good thing? I don't know.
"You can get pigeonholed as an indie darling. Or you can be seen for what you are, which is a human being who tells stories – wherever they ask me to.”
Creed III is in cinemas and IMAX from 3 March. Watch a trailer below.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently scheduled to reach cinemas 2 May, 2025.
