Ivan Toney pokes fun at his no-look penalty style in social media video

England hero Ivan Toney has poked fun at his no-look penalty technique in a social media video.

The clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, showed the Brentford frontman talking about the goal which he scored against Switzerland in the quarter-finals where he gave the opposition goalkeeper the eyes and struck the ball into the corner without looking at it.

Toney, who was filmed playing Connect Four, darts and basketball and reading a book without looking, said he would not change his approach if he had to take another penalty.

Toney, who it was reported on Tuesday Manchester United are considering trying to sign, said: “I always look at the keeper no matter who it is. I always wait to see if he makes the first move.

“If he doesn’t make the first move then I pick a corner to put it in and I’ve always done this, I feel like its been working for me and hopefully it can continue.”

Toney, who started his career playing for this hometown club Northampton in League Two, has been celebrated for his ice-cold approach to spot-kicks and was seen watching several online memes inspired by his approach including a film of former Apprentice star Thomas Skinner pouring sauce on his breakfast while looking into the camera.

Members of the England squad including Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham have praised England’s Dutch coach and former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for his part in England’s penalty triumph with all five players scoring from the spot to seal a place in the semi-final against Hasselbaink’s native Netherlands.
