Inside Out 2 sets another huge box-office record
Inside Out 2 has continued its huge box office success, with the movie achieving another milestone.
The new Pixar sequel was released last week in cinemas, and has already enjoyed the second-biggest opening of all time for an animated movie.
After notching the biggest Tuesday ever for an animated movie with $29.1 million at the US box office, Inside Out 2 has now delivered the biggest Juneteenth for any movie with $30 million taken yesterday (June 19).
It also ranks as the third highest-grossing non-opening Wednesday of all time behind two Star Wars movies: The Force Awakens ($38 million) and The Rise of Skywalker ($32.2 million).

Inside Out 2 is now the second highest-grossing movie of 2024 in the US behind Dune: Part Two with $235.4 million, and looks likely to beat the sci-fi sequel to become the biggest movie of the year.
Globally, the Pixar movie currently sits at $438.7 million, behind Dune's $711 million.
Its Tuesday record beat previous record-holder The Incredibles 2's $27 million, while Inside Out 2 is now also the sixth highest-grossing non-opening Tuesday of all time.
That sits below 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens (for its first two Tuesdays), 2019's Avengers: Endgame, and 2019's The Lion King remake.

Inside Out 2 continues the story of Riley and the emotions in her head, with the now-13-year-old experiencing new feelings as epitomised by characters such as Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment.
"We wanted new emotions to show up in the story and especially in Riley's life because she's getting into a more complex time," director Kelsey Mann recently told Collider.
"We wanted them to feel like they understand what Riley is going through more so than [the original emotions] do, especially Joy."
