Immature Waylade stuns again

Exciting prospect Waylade is on track for a clean sweep of the Gloucester Park four-year-old features after a stunning win in last night's $50,000 Princi Butchers 4YO Championship (2130m).

An impressive winner of the Golden Nugget Prelude (2536m) eight days ago, Waylade continued his big improvement to stake his claim on an upcoming Group 1 double.

Waylade ($1.90 favourite) sat outside of Ohoka Cooper ($5.30), who led comfortably in the early stages.

Reinsman Gary Hall Jr sent Waylade to the lead before the final turn and he exploded away from his rivals, scoring by 3m.

VC Manoeuvre ($72.70) gave Hall's trainer father, Gary Sr, the quinella when he charged home into second.

Waylade continues to defy his lack of experience, boosting his record to four wins from eight starts.

He has emerged as a perfect replacement for Hall Sr's star four-year-old Machtu, who will be sidelined from the Gloucester Park carnival because of a virus.

"He left me speechless when he dropped them off at the top of the straight," Hall Jr said. "In three weeks he's gone from an inexperienced, little child in the head to a complete racehorse."

Waylade is bound for the $120,000 McInerney Ford 4YO Classic (2536m) next Friday night and the $175,000 Golden Nugget Championship (2536m) on December 5.
