'I'm not sure what to do': Luke Perry's daughter posts Instagram tribute to her dad

The daughter of Luke Perry has shared a touching message in the wake of her father’s death.

Sophie Perry took to Instagram on Wednesday to break her silence since her father, who gained instant heart-throb status as wealthy rebel Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills 90210, passed away aged 52 on Monday after suffering a stroke last week.

“A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family,” she wrote.

“And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support.”

While thanking everyone for their messages of support, she revealed she was uncertain over what to do next.

“I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye.,” she continued.

“So bear with me and know that I am grateful for all the love. Just, being grateful quietly.”

Her comments come after a wave of tributes and support for his friends and family filled social media over the past few days.

Molly Ringwald, who played his wife on Riverdale, said, “My heart is broken. I will miss you so much Luke Perry. Sending all my love to your family”.

Perry was surrounded by his children, Jake and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer and his former wife, Minnie Sharp, when he died on Monday.

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning,” his publicist Arnold Robinson said following his death.

Born and raised in rural Fredericktown, Ohio, Perry gained fame on Beverly Hills, 90210, which ran from 1990 to 2000.

Perry has had roles in a handful of films, including The Fifth Element, 8 Seconds and American Strays.

He appeared in HBO’s prison drama Oz and voiced cartoons like The Incredible Hulk and Mortal Kombat. In recent years he starred in the series Ties That Bind and Body of Proof.

The same day he was hospitalised, Fox TV announced that it would be running a six-episode return of 90210 that features most of the original cast, but Perry was not among those announced.
