Hunt for driver after deadly hit-and-run
The loved ones of a man who was killed in an alleged hit-and-run in Melbourne’s west are calling for the driver to come forward.
Aaron Brown, 27, was found dead in the middle of Boundary Road at Derrimut just before 3.50am on Sunday.
Police believe he was struck by a car as he crossed the road.
Investigators believe the car involved was dumped nearby before the driver fled the scene.
Mr Brown’s sister Kaela Brown said the family is devastated by his death and are still struggling to understand why he was walking the street late at night.
“We’re devastated, he should have never been where he was,” she told Nine.
“He was so innocent.”
Mr Brown had autism and was described by family as a “beautiful, kind-hearted boy”.
Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Alexander joined calls for the driver to come forward and tell their side of the story.
“It’s a heartless and cowardly act if, you know, someone is deceased on the road,” he said.
“For whatever reason has left the scene, they have a story to tell and they’ll be actually going to come straight away and into the police station.”
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are being investigated.
Investigators are appealing to the public living in the area to check their CCTV and dashcam between 3.30am and 3.50am.
