Human skull found on a remote beach

A human skull has been found half buried in sand by a person walking near a remote community in Western Australia’s northwest.

The person who found the skull contacted police on Saturday after they made the discovery near Beagle Bay on the Dampier Penninsula.

The area is about 110km north of popular tourist town Broome.

Police went to Beagle Bay with a Nyul Nyul Ranger from The Kimberley Land Council to inspect the skull.

A police spokesperson said images of the skull were sent to a forensic anthropologist for an opinion in relation to the age of the skull.

Police are still investigating the discovery.
