Horror moment woman hit by car

Dashcam footage has revealed the horror moment a woman was hit by a car and thrown up into the air, putting her in hospital in a serious condition.

Emergency services raced to Avoca St in Sydney’s leafy Randwick suburb just after 11am following reports a driver of a vehicle had mounted the kerb and collided with a pedestrian.

Footage from a side street shows a car careening out of control before slamming into a parked car.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 30-year-old female at the scene before taking her to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police attended the scene and discovered a vehicle had mounted the kerb, collided with a pedestrian, sideswiped a vehicle and then collided with a tree.

“A 44-year-old male was also treated and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition,” the police said on Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, the police said the man had been arrested and charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, driving in a dangerous manner, negligent driving and driving a motor vehicle during disqualification period.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

It is understood the woman was talking to a friend on the pavement as the car hurtled towards her.

Amanda South was near the crash when it happened.

“I heard a woman screaming and I just picked up my phone and my keys and ran to the door and called the police,” she told 7News.

“I saw another guy with blood down his shirt and I think he might have been the driver.”
