This one’s for all the horror bugs out there: the creepy residence of serial killer Buffalo Bill in 1991 Academy Award-nominated film, The Silence of the Lambs, has hit the market for US$298,500 (AU$414,065).

The skin-wearing villain’s eerie house has been listed by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, and described as a “rare opportunity”.

Buffalo Bill, or Jame Gumb, was played by now-63-year-old Ted Levine. The house was the site of his gory crimes.

While the three-story Victorian-style home was depicted to be in Ohio for the film, it’s actually located in Perryopolis, and in the light of day, actually looks surprisingly non-threatening.

It sits on a sprawling 1.76 acres and boasts five bedrooms and a pool but just one bathroom.

“With everything the home offers AND ties to the classic horror film, this ionic property would make for an amazing Airbnb!” The listing states.

But it’s not the first time the horror house has hit the market. Back in 2016, former owners Scott and Barbara Lloyd listed the home after decades of ownership, but struggled to actually sell it, according to NY Daily News.

While notoriety works in its favour, its location does not. The house is situated about one hour’s drive southeast of Pittsburgh, which isn’t ideal for city slickers.

Also, having just one bathroom to five bedrooms may also cause some problems for family buyers.

Purchase, if you dare.
