A man will face court charged with the attempted murder of a police officer who was allegedly stabbed while attending a disturbance at a home north of Brisbane.

The senior constable was stabbed in the shoulder and is being treated in hospital where he is in a stable condition. He is expected to be released tomorrow,

The chaos unfolded at a house in Jones St, Rothwell, about 9.25am on Monday after reports of a disturbance.

Police will allege a 30-year-old man was armed with a knife and stabbed the senior constable in the shoulder.

The alleged offender sustained self-inflicted stomach injuries in the incident.

The 30-year-old man has been charged with one count each of attempt to murder, serious assault police whilst armed, going armed so as to cause fear and wilful damage.

He will appear before the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Tuesday via video link.
