Horrifying moment girl’s entire arm gets stuck in escalator

Distressing photos reveal the moment a young girl got her entire arm stuck in an escalator after it was reportedly sucked in.

In photos taken from security vision from a shopping centre in China, the five-year-old can be seen riding the escalator up to the next floor together with her mum on on August 12.

The girl had her left hand placed firmly on the rubber handrail but reportedly forgot to let go as she reached the next floor above.

As the handrail rolls back underneath the floor panel, the girl crouches down at the escalator exit and her left arm is suddenly sucked into the mechanism with the disappearing handrail.

The CCTV then shows the small girl left lying helplessly on the floor as her arm remains trapped inside the escalator.

Her mother looked on in panic but wasn’t able to do anything to free her daughter’s arm.

Members of the local fire service said they managed to rescue the girl in just 10 minutes by dismantling the plastic housing surrounding the handrail conveyor system.

The child’s hand was cut and swollen and she was given stitches at a local hospital but she fortunately escaped serious injuries despite the terrifying ordeal.

She is recovering after the accident but it is still unclear whether the shopping centre has offered to pay for her medical bills.
