Hollyoaks kills off second character in double death twist

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Wednesday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Thursday.

Hollyoaks has killed off Hunter McQueen as part of its drugs storyline.

This week has already seen Lizzie Chen-Williams die from taking dodgy drugs that Warren Fox's dealers sold to Dilly Harcourt.

Dilly passed the pills around Dave Chen-Williams and Cindy Cunningham's wedding reception, with Prince, Hunter and Zoe seemingly among those to have taken them.

Police detective Zoe didn't actually take the drugs, but she pretended to do so in order to cover her tracks for cheating on Hunter McQueen with his brother Prince.

Prince and Zoe had agreed to keep their hook-up a secret from Hunter to not hurt him, but the truth was revealed during Wednesday's (May 8) first-look episode.

Zoe finally broke down, admitting to Hunter that she hadn't actually taken the drugs and confessing that she'd cheated as he'd suspected.

The detective tried to spare Hunter more heartbreak by pretending she'd cheated with someone her boyfriend didn't know.

"I regret it with all my heart, Hunter, please," she begged.

Prince couldn't contain his guilt while trying to comfort his brother and finally admitted he'd been the man Zoe cheated with.

"I messed up big time, and I'm scared you're never going to forgive me," Prince told his brother.

However, as Prince was baring his soul, his brother had passed out. Cleo and Mercedes desperately tried to rouse their relative but it was too late.

"There's no pulse, he's dead," Cleo announced.

News of cast member Theo Graham's departure from Hollyoaks leaked a few weeks ago, with there being heavy speculation that his character Hunter would be killed off.

Hollyoaks is cutting down the size of its cast as part of a reduction from five episodes per week to just three later this year.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
