Hollyoaks kills off regular character

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Tuesday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Wednesday.

Hollyoaks has aired a shocking drugs death for Lizzie Chen-Williams during Dave and Cindy's wedding.

The alarming scenes took place in Tuesday's (May 7) first-look episode, after Lizzie had confided in her future mother-in-law Cindy that she gave up a child when she was a teenager.

This led to an emotional moment where a confused and upset Dave discovered Cindy knew his daughter's secret during the wedding ceremony.

"I made her promise not to tell anyone," Lizzie insisted.

Cindy explained that Lizzie hadn't known she was pregnant, so she panicked when the baby came.

"She made sure the baby was safe all on her own, which I think is pretty amazing," Cindy explained to Dave.

The groom apologised for bringing up Lizzie's secret in front of their wedding guests, assuring her they could talk it all through later.

The wedding ceremony carried on with the couple tying the knot, but events spiralled out of control during the reception as multiple guests took some of the dodgy pills Dilly was passing around.

The pills came from Warren Fox's drug connection and viewers will ultimately learn they were responsible for several recent deaths in the area.

Lizzie was among those to take one of the pills, and after telling Dave she loved him, she collapsed on the dance floor.

The guests rushed to her side, though DS Zoe Anderson quickly discovered that Lizzie had no pulse. Dave was distraught as Zoe explained to him that Lizzie was "gone".

Actress Lily Best previously hinted that Lizzie could be one of several characters cut as part of the show's move to three episodes per week later this year. She debuted on the soap in 2021 as part of the introduction of the Chen-Williams family.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
