A pregnant woman and her unborn child have had a lucky escape after her car was ploughed into by a vehicle police were chasing at high speed in Sydney’s west.

Officers were trying to stop a man allegedly wanted for domestic violence, when he rammed the woman’s car in Emerton on Tuesday before taking off again.

Footage of the fleeing vehicle shows the driver evade police with a series of dangerous moves before crashing head on with the woman’s car.

Five months pregnant, she was rushed to Nepean Hospital in a state of shock.

After hitting the woman’s car, the driver then reversed into a busy roundabout before taking off again, weaving between police cars.

One witness described hearing a “massive big bang” before hearing a plethora of sirens.

Bystanders rushed to help the woman sitting motionless and in shock behind the wheel.

Fortunately both her and her baby have been given the all clear.

The police chase eventually came to an end when the wanted man’s car crashed into a power pole outside a suburban front yard.

The driver was taken to Blacktown Hospital where he is undergoing assessment.

He expected to be charged and will face court on Wednesday.
